This is one of the most delicious cafe experiences I have had for a while. Exmouth Coffee Company, 83 Whitechapel High Street. Right next door to Whitechapel Gallery and Aldgate East tube, you’ll be welcomed by a smashing window display that won’t leave you hesitating for long. Just who – who on earth can resist something like this? Enter, and you are in a beautiful space where everything works perfectly to build up a good appetite.

It might be busy around lunch, but we got the bar counter at the back and it was pleasant enough for quiet conversation. However, your main purpose should be eating, smelling, looking and experiencing this place with all your senses. The coffee, which is their own roast, is great. The vegetable filled flat bread, the cheese cake and the cannelés we ate were all made to a high standard, the cannelés even better than one we had in France recently.

During peak hours it’s likely you’ll have to queue up to get a table or your take away coffee, but a tip is to visit this cafe mid morning or mid afternoon when it’s probably easier to grab a spot to sit down. Then you can sit in peace and quiet and perhaps make a drawing for the cafe wall, or prepare yourself for a visit to the Whitechapel Gallery. Whatever your purpose beyond getting fed, this will be worth every crumb and minute of your time.. Everything is reasonably priced too. Exmouth Coffee Co.
